The Catholic Encyclopedia.
is
one of the best online resources for Early Church History (and religion
in general). You'll find there information about each of the New
Testament
books and about all of the religious movements mentioned in class
including
Gnosticism
and Arianism.
-
The Blue
Letter Bible
contains on-line Greek and Hebrew texts. Excellent for those
studying
Biblical languages--though it takes a few minutes to figure out how to
use. If you want more on the Greek terms we discuss in class
(agape,
pistis, sarx, soma, etc.), you can find help here.
-
St.
Pachomius
Library will direct you to patristic
texts on the Web. You can find links to Origen's De
Principias, Justin Martyr's First
Apology , Athenagoras' Plea
for the Christians and plenty of other fascinating texts.
-
Early Church Fathers
This
site (from Wheaton University) has almost all Ante-Nicene works
available
in English (and lots of Nicene and Post-Nicene stuff too). What
Wheaton
has done is put both the A. Cleveland Coxe edition of the
Ante-Nicene
Fathers and the Philip Schaff edition of the Nicene and Post-Nicene
Fathers
on line.
